<Abstract>

As the benefits of living in green space are not evenly distributed to the city residents due to the spatial inequity of green space, many diverse studies are being conducted regarding the equity of urban green space. This study measured Busan City’s living space in parks’ equity, and substantiates what effects living space in parks may have on life satisfaction. “Equity” was measured on each Gini coefficient that was derived from the population percentage to area and accessibility of living space in parks. Then, we substantiated the effect that living space parks had on life satisfaction using the multilayer model analysis. First, we derived the Gini coefficient; we found that Busan City’s living space parks were not equitably installed in terms of population percentage to area and accessibility. According to the multilayer model analysis, living space in parks’ area and accessibility had a positive impact on Busan City residents’ life satisfaction. The degree of impact that living space parks had on the residents’ life satisfaction differed by the degree of equity. There was a positive impact of living space parks on the residents’ life satisfaction but its installation was not equitably distributed, which implies that securing equity on the installment of living space parks impacted life satisfaction. In the future, this research may provide implications for urban planning and policy that considers the citizens’ life satisfaction and equitable arrangement of living space parks.
