<Abstract>
This research is a study on the comparative verification and boundary setting of the center system in the 2040 Busan City Plan. The City Plan assumes the system of 10 centers and this study aims to understand and assess the urban system and urban space structure of Busan by reviewing the feasibility of selecting the center location. As data for selecting the center, floating population, land price, and commercial buildings' area was used. After calculating the center index (triangle area index) with three data, a hotspot analysis (Getis-Ord Gi*) was conducted. This suggests an approximate location of the center. Then using hotspot analysis result, DBSCAN was conducted to extract the cluster-forming area for the corresponding area within the 99% confidence interval. Since the City Plan is planned to be about 10 centers, the result which has 10 clusters (Minpoint=160, ε=400m) was selected as the final center location. In addition, in order to express the clear boundaries of the center, the corresponding parcels in the cluster area of each center were extracted. When comparing the results of this study with the 2040 Busan City Plan, Seomyeon, Jungang, Haeundae, Yeonsan, and Dongnae were identified as centers in both research and Busan City plans, but Sasang, Gijang, and Gadeok, which are political centers, did not appear in result. Deokcheon, Hadan were also excluded due to their small size. If the assessment result of central area system in Busan of this study are used in the City Plan, it is expected that a more suitable center system can be formed in Busan.
